@00:16Ahh, yeah I was just using my speakers, I will watch it again with headphones!

Can you tell what it is?

Lets your eyes wander freely to sounds inspired by the photograph.

---

notes:

Listen with headphones or turn your speakers up. Otherwise you may have silence for the first 16 seconds.

This is a photograph taken by me. When I uploaded it into my computer I then composed sound over the top of it in responce to how it was making me feel... Painting with sound, if you will.

Also, guest vocals by my friend Jonny Walker.

@01:14If you ask me, all it needed was SOMETHING at the end. Perhaps for that screen to shake, the water splatters off, the end. Just to fade it out seems... I dunno. Pretty cool, but not exactly my cup of tea, as the British say.

And yes, I realize it's a photo, but I hit "play" before I read the comments, so I just reiterated what I was thinking during it, then I saw it was a RL uploaded picture.

While I am not going to comment on the deviation in question, I would like to ask a question of those who are naysaying this as a film.

Derek Jarman made and released a film called Blue, which consisted of a static blue screen with a soundtrack.[link]

This is the same style and if it's good enough for Jarman, it's good enough for me.

@00:57Being the kind of person to make an initial comment and then read other comments from critics and come back to comment again, I am once again commenting on this piece.

To those of you who say this is not a film because it isn't moving...film doesn't always move. Take for instant a still shot of a forest. You don't necessarily see anything move, but you do hear birds chirping, perhaps the babbling of a brook, snapping twigs, the wind...that would be a film. Likewise, this is a film, and it does move. That's the point of the sound. Sure, without the sound it would be a still picture, and a rather interesting one at that, but the sound that was added should inspire different emotions, perhaps even memories. And I'm not just spouting gibberish, take a Psychology class if you don't believe me.

Once again to THIRTEENninetySIX, great work. Obviously very controversial, as good experimental art should be. Now, to guess what the picture is...

It seems that you're looking out at the sky through some sort of screen with water droplets on it...I'm just not sure what that screen is...reminds me of the thing that goes over a speaker...

@01:14It was interesting watching it. I had to watch it in fullscreen to get the full effect. At first I thought something was wrong with it, but after staring at it, unblinking, through the whole thing, the pattern sort of rippled and it aroused my curiosity. Very abstract.

@00:56Bah, give no heed to these dismissing and close-minded people, what you've posted here is art in it's own right. DA is filled with webcam pictures, MSpaint drawings and other such stuff as well as artworks of professional quality. It all belongs here, and most of it has a thought behind it at some level, and that's the important thing, that is what makes it art!

To all you people saying this isn't film, maybe you should look up the term "Deviant" in your nearest dictionary.

To THIRTEENninetySIX: Good job, I like the film and the music, and I'm really curious about what the motive of the image actually is! But then again, I'm the kind of person who listens to weird jazz noises and appreciate installation art. Keep it up!

@00:57I dont think you really can call it a film because then you can just be looking at a painting or any photograph with music on in the background and then call it a film. But still, I like it.

No offense, but I chose this to test out the gallery for the first time... I thought there is a bug and its broken. >.<

I guess its more about the idea of artistical freedom then a true movie.

OK, some people are questioning if my film should be classed as a film and should it be on dA? blah, blah, blah.

So for those that are upset or offended by this film, read this, from my journal:

Art should never be limmited.
Nor should there be a 'whats what' guide to art.

If you are a creator or believer in this 'whats what' guide, then I am here to burn your book and throw myself out of the box.

There are no limmits to creativity.
And you should never be made to feel limmited.

A photograph submission would have been more sufficient in my opinion as opposed to taking up the space for the same image over and over again, and obviously most people were not impressed (false expectations I guess).

In all honesty, I didn't expect anything.

I didn't expect anyone to really like it.
I didn't expect an invite to the film section.
I didn't expect anyone to get it.
I didn't expect nearly 2.5k views in less than a day.

If it was just a photograph, I would have submitted to the photograph section.

Like it or not, this is a film with music.

Normally not something I'd check when just minutes before I'm listening to the audio off youtube, or playing music before viewing the video. Perhaps just a glitch in the plugin at the time, since the video doesn't change and just a solid picture, one would pounder over a few seconds, stopping and playing it thinking that maybe the video froze up. That what makes it an annoying submission.

film a.k.a motion picture: a sequence of consecutive pictures of objects photographed in motion by a specially designed camera (motion-picture camera) and thrown on a screen by a projector (motion-picture projector) in such rapid succession as to give the illusion of natural movement. ([link]). I usually don't care much about the "by a specially designed camera" and "thrown on a screen by a projector" but i do care about "in motion" part.

I don't say it's ugly and shouldn't get any attention, but you should of wait for deviantArt Music or something...
